"Fate and Transport"

BLOG #2 Had you heard of the phrase "fate and transport" before? Can you think of ways in which fate and transport of toxic chemicals might contribute to environmental health problems in your community?     I have not heard of “fate and transport” before. Fate and transport of toxic and pharmaceutical chemicals would be devasting for the Monterey Peninsula. Living in an area with ocean and vast sea life surround you, makes every day hazards a huge concern for our environment. Human, Marine and plant life are the most venerable on the Peninsula. Proper disposal facilities are few and far between and not centrally located close to the Peninsula.  If chemical are improperly transported or disposed of, the odds of it ending up in our ocean or ground water is a huge concern. Home Environment & Safety Assessment

BLOG #1 Did you discover any environmental risks in your home by completing the home assessment?       After completing the Davis Home Environment & Safety Awareness survey I discovered that my current home was built before 1978 and a current lead paint testing study has not been performed within the last 20 years. The last known testing found that paint located on bedroom walls and kitchen cabinets tested positive for lead. Since this assessment all cabinets were destroyed and replaced and bedrooms were stripped and repainted. At this time, I do have pain that is flaking off in the kitchen, living in Monterey moisture is difficult to control and paint peeling and flaking off is a common occurrence.      There are also concerns for Toxic Mold.
